Week Between Henry's Birthday and Easter

Mummy woke up on Monday morning with an annoying cold. Plans for going out that day were scrapped. Henry spent a lot of time with Daddy as he was off from work that day. Mummy can't remember much of the day as she took two naps, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Tuesday was a bit better and Mummy felt well enough to take Henry to his Little Gym class. He had a blast as usual. Daddy headed up north to meet the lady who handles our taxes. The good news is that we will be getting a very nice refund from the federal government and about half as much from the state. Turns out we get quite a large deduction for mortgage interest, of which we are paying a lot since we are at the beginning of the loan and we hadn't accurately estimated the deductions Daddy needed to take to compensate for that.

Wednesday Henry and Mummy went shopping at Trader Joe's. Then we met neighbors Fran, Gisella and Logan at Gregg Parkette for a play date.

On Thursday, since Music Rhapsody was closed for Spring Break, we headed to Hype Studios for a drop-in ballet/tap class. Ran into our other neighbor, Tanya, who was there with her kids Aidan, Demi, and Jake. Aidan and Demi did the class with Henry. Henry was very enthusiastic about the class. He especially liked doing frog jumps and forward rolls. He did a backward roll too, with the help of teacher Chrissy. He was also pretty well controlled when they did some ballet moves with the bar. Plus he stayed in the room for the whole class with no problem while Mummy was in the lobby area watching through the window.

Immediately following class we drove to Beverly Parkette to play. However, there were men at the house right next to the parkette fixing the roof and tarring it. The smell was too much for Mummy and they were also brushing up dust that was blowing into the playground. We stayed there for about 10 minutes maximum.

In the afternoon, Henry got on his tricycle and we headed over to Townsend Parkette. Henry played with a 10 month old baby girl (who was walking!) for a little bit. It was very cute. He demonstrated how to turn the balls around using the steering wheel to drop them through a couple holes. He said something like, "I'm going to show the baby how to do this. Watch this baby. You turn the wheel and then the balls drop through the holes."

Both Spanish and French classes had off for Spring Break this week too. Friday morning we dropped Henry off at Art Zone for a Spring Break Art Camp that was 4 hours long. When he came back home he had A LOT of paintings in his bag. They did some sort of project where they were tipping cups of water onto something and his sleeves got soaked. His feet also came home covered in paint. He was particularly happy because teacher Arianna was there (she stopped working during his preschool class and she was his favorite teacher).

In the meantime, Mummy and Daddy headed to Del Sol School to talk with the head of the school and the 3 to 5 year old room teachers. It was an interesting meeting where we discussed the philosophy of the school and some of the recommended reading materials and Henry, of course. We'll find out if he gets a place at the school probably around the end of April.

It seems you can't have a windfall (tax refund money) without having some rainfall (some unexpected thing you have to pay lots of money for), we woke up on Saturday to no hot water and had to get our water heater replaced (it was 12 years old and out of warranty). Last year it was the air conditioning in Mummy's car that had to get fixed just after we found out about our refund. So we spent the day at home on Saturday while the plumber came and went and came back again with a new water heater. Then some of his other team members came over in the early afternoon to install it. The plumber also turned off our kitchen sink water filter system that has been trickling constantly since we moved in. We prefer to use the water filter jug that is kept in the fridge anyway, as then we always have cold water for drinking.

Henry spent most of Saturday morning playing with his new marble run, which he received on Friday from Uncle John, Aunt Sue and cousin Alex.
